Once considered too commercial by sporting anglers, the simple effectiveness of wire lining to locate deep running schools of fish has swung the pendulum of public opinion. Wire lining is simply the art of trolling lures on wire line for purposes of catching gamefish. Once believed to be effective only on inshore species, many anglers have adopted wire lining for pelagics like wahoo and tuna. Sounds simple enough, but before you go and load wire onto any old reel or any old rod, you need to understand a few basics.Wire line causes aluminum spools to pit and corrode, and with few exceptions, wire line wreaks havoc on guides.
