Painting a boat requires planning because of the different material compositions of boats.
Preparation for painting is not the same for metal, fiberglass, or wood.
Fiberglass painting requires that surfaces be cleaned of oxidation and finely sanded. Repairs may require use of fiberglass matt and resins prior to painting.
Special primers may be required to ensure adequate paint bonding to metal surfaces. Since this work usually requires sanding and sometimes grinding, respirators, safety glasses, and gloves should be worn for safety reasons. |
