Fishing Tackle Box

Tackle BoxSelecting a tackle box is not an easy decision because many inputs regarding baits and equipment have to be considered. What type of fishing is going to be done, i.e., fresh water, salt water, river, lake, bay, or offshore?

Other factors to consider are lure size, lure materials, and type of lures. Plastic baits require different storage techniques than spinner baits and plugs.

Then there are the accessories to store such as pliers, filleting knives, corks, extra line, preassembled rigs, hook sharpeners, small tools for reel repair, weights, beads, etc. to consider.

Soft Tackle BagFortunately there are many tackle box designs available which meet most requirements. There are large tackle boxes with many different sized compartments including specific storage areas for lures such as spinner baits, plastics, and plugs. These tackle boxes have large generic storage bins for accessories.

Other tackle box designs are more specific to lure types such as soft sided plastic lure organizers.

Another approach used by anglers is to purchase separate plastic boxes of different sizes and arrange their lures by lure type per box. In this manner the angler can readily find worms, plugs, or spinner baits. Accessories can also be stored separately in this manner.

Tackle ContainerNo matter what tackle box design is used, it is necessary to keep different plastic materials separated.

Tackle boxes are made of materials that do not react with plastics. However, placing different plastics in contact with each other will result in the plastic components melting together. For example do not place plastic corks next to plastic beads.
